Headteacher Welcome
It is a real privilege to be Acting Headteacher of Saltash Community School; a school that, as it says in our name, sits proudly at the heart of a vibrant Cornish community.
At Saltash, we are absolutely committed to providing the best quality care and education for our children. Students who attend here want to learn, and are proud to represent our school, whether that be in sporting competitions, musical performances, or at events in the wider community. Classrooms are exciting, inclusive places, and our ‘Curriculum Kernewek’ is unashamedly ambitious in wanting to get the very best outcomes for every child. I’m proud of the purposeful and focussed lessons that our teachers work so hard to continuously develop, in order to give every child the best chance of success.
Saltash is a school that cares, and where relationships matter. We place importance on developing the whole child, building their character though our values of Tenacity, Empathy, Aspiration and Motivation. We teach students to have high expectations of themselves, and others. This includes taking personal responsibility; understanding the importance of collective rules; wearing their uniform with pride; completing their homework to the highest standard; having good manners; celebrating diversity and bringing these qualities together to demonstrate exceptional behaviour. We insist that students look after each other, a value we foster through our successful House system, and we work tirelessly to break down barriers, so that our Saltash school community is a safe and inviting place for everyone.
Students at Saltash are encouraged to undertake a wide range of experiences and activities, so that they can flourish personally. Sports clubs, musical productions, House competitions, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, ‘TEAM’ week, and trips to the theatre, museum, and universities are all just a small part of what is on offer. These experiences ensure that our students leave Saltash as high-achieving, well-rounded individuals, who can live out our school vision of having ‘broad horizons’ and go on to be ‘confident leaders.’
Saltash is a great school, with incredible students, supportive families and dedicated staff. I look forward to building strong partnerships with you all, to ensure that every young person has the very brightest of futures ahead.
