Geography
Intent:
- To provide a relevant, broad, balanced, and rigorous geography curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of every young person and leaves them well-prepared for their future.
- To develop contextual knowledge of globally, nationally, and regionally significant places, deepening cultural capital.
- To deepen an understanding, through carefully sequenced lessons, of the interconnectedness of our world. Studying the interaction between human and physical environments to recognise their human role in actively and responsibly shaping the future of our planet.
- To instil a tolerance and appreciation of diverse places, people, and resources.
- To gain the skills needed to interpret a range of sources; maps, diagrams, photographs etc to make sense of the Earth’s human and physical features and the processes that have shaped them.
- To provide each year group with at least one opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, to connect with their local place and find relevance in their classroom-based learning and develop a meaningful understanding of their environment.
