Intent:

The History Department's intent is to create a lifelong love of History through a varied range of topics.  This will enable students at Saltash Community School to have a coherent knowledge and understanding of both Britain’s past and its place in the wider world, as well as an appreciation of the global context.  We aim to place this within a chronological framework to support the concept of change over time.

• For Saltash students to have a greater understanding of different people’s lives and the diversity of societies over time, both within Britain and in the context of the wider world. 
• To gain a broad range of historical knowledge and understanding reflecting a sense of development over time.
• For Saltash students to emerge as critical and reflective learners, able to evaluate effectively historical evidence and form interpretations which are substantiated.
• For our students to gain the confidence to question, challenge and present independent opinions which are well written, clearly expressed and coherently organised.
